Heritage Days – 18th & 19th September 2021

Make the most of those special days and discover one of the last great Château de la Loire still inhabited.

At the crossroads of three ancient French provinces, the Maine, the Anjou and the Touraine, the Château du Lude is an old medieval fortress turn into a comfortable house during the Renaissance.

The visit of the house

The tour of the house is without a guide, but with noticce informations, in french and in english. It includes the state rooms (drawing rooms, ball room, library, entrance hall), a bedchamber and its painted room. In the North Tower, the new rooms open to public immerse you in the daily life of the castle at the end of the 19the Century: hunting room, guests’ appartment, linen closet.

The weekend activities

In the medieval kitches, the season fruits (rhubarb, raspberries, apple, pears, plums) are wood-fired cooked in the copper pans to make jams. Taste them with fresh crepes and bring some jar home.

Walk in the gardens

Garden lovers enjoy the various atmospheres of the park. The tree leaves are slowlytinging with autumn colours and the late blosoming appear in the spring garden. In the rose garden, the roses still perfum the atmosphere. To complete your tour, don’t miss the kitchen garden, especially open to public.
